it's sems I may have the write stuff

well it's not a steady nine to five but my adding freelance writing work into my job search seems to be paying off a bit.

I was just told a writing sample I sent to website that was looking for writers has been well received and they have me as one of their writers (actually they said backup writers) and well send me writing assignments for them.

It sounds like this will the assignments well only come every so often, but I will get paid for my work.

I'll fill everyone in with more information when I receive it.

looking at the ages of those at Michigan Works

while I was at my locale Michigan Works station I couldn't help but notice the make up of the people their. it was mostly older people (and those in their upper middle ages) and younger people (in their 20's or so)

I wonder if it's the time I went or is their are reason why people in those two groups are having a harder time finding work.

I'm guessing the high number of lay offs well account for many of the older workers (as well as some of the younger workers) and the fact that Michigan economy has been down for a while maybe a reason why many of the younger people have came down.

went down to Michigan Works

I went done to my local Michigan Works station near me.

for those that know the state of Michigan has been in economic trouble a few years before most of the nation (we're trend setters) and because of that our state has tried to get a number of programs to help people looking for work.

I don't know why I didn't go down sooner. I use there site in my job search, but I decided to go done to see if I can become a part of their No Worker Left behind program.

The No Worker Left Behind program is to ad people in further education so they can learn different skills to fit the jobs that are in demand in the job seekers area. Giving that I've been having a hard time recently even finding jobs that are looking for people with the skills I have, I figured it's a good ideal for me expand my repertoire.

I was told the soonest orientation meeting starts next month and if I'm in the program they well contact me with the time.

hopefully I made it into the program.

Please leave your name and your number and I'll get back to you

I just check my phones voice message and just listen to a message from someone who received my resume and wants to talk to me

Great news, only one problem the guy didn't leave me his phone number nor the company he worked for.

the article did not pay anything put I thought it would look good in a writing portfolio

True, I'd have preffered a different out come

Last month I mentioned I went on a job interview.

I originally contacted the person I had the interview on the date he told me that he thought his boss would make a decision, only to find that the owner of the company was out of town for a few days and that they had a few more people had applied to the job. The guy I interviewed with told me to contact around the time he thought everyone should be interviewed.

Which I did.

And it seems that one of the people he interviewed had a lot more experience, then I had, so logically they went with that person. Which I completely understand, even though I would have liked it better if I was the one that got job (but am happy that someone has found work, who ever that maybe)

I also respect that I got a straight answer.

Con Jobs

one thing I had realize until I was deep into my job search is that their are a lot of people trying to scam people looking for work.

one would think that the unemployed would be an odd target for con artist due to their lack of income.

but after being on a long job search I can see why we the out of worked are picked by the cons. I think there two reason these con artist prey on the unemployed.

1. They hop to leer in those who are new to job hunting. Like those who just graduated from college, because they are wide eyed and green behind the ears they make easy targets and have a lack of knowledge on looking for work.

2. desperation, is the other reason con artist target job seekers. When one has bills piling up and you've been out of work it easy to let your guard down and jump at any employment offer you receive, even the ones that if you even thought about for a fraction of a second you'd see that they seemed a bit fishy.

luckily the internet offers job seekers tools to help us avoid falling for these con artist's traps. we can quickly look up companies and find out if they are real or not and see if they have any complaints against them.

I got people

a little while ago (about a month or so) I applied for a job at H & R block.

I haven't heard from them since...until today. When I received a letter asking me to do my taxes with them.

I wonder by applying for the job did they but me on their junk mail list?

about

After months of searching for a job with no prevail I have decided to an alternative path to finding employment is needed.

So I decided to set up this blog to outsource the task of job hunting to those who maybe better skilled at it then I am or at the least by opening my job search up people who know of a job opening may inform me about it.

I am willing to pay 10% of the income from any job (for up to my first year of employment) that comes from this blog to the person who founds me a job*

ideally I would like a job in the area that I already live in, south eastern Michigan (near the Pontiac area would be best) but I am welling to relocate for the right job.

*I reserve the right to reject any job offer
