looking at the ages of those at Michigan Works

while I was at my locale Michigan Works station I couldn't help but notice the make up of the people their. it was mostly older people (and those in their upper middle ages) and younger people (in their 20's or so)

I wonder if it's the time I went or is their are reason why people in those two groups are having a harder time finding work.

I'm guessing the high number of lay offs well account for many of the older workers (as well as some of the younger workers) and the fact that Michigan economy has been down for a while maybe a reason why many of the younger people have came down.

went down to Michigan Works

I went done to my local Michigan Works station near me.

for those that know the state of Michigan has been in economic trouble a few years before most of the nation (we're trend setters) and because of that our state has tried to get a number of programs to help people looking for work.

I don't know why I didn't go down sooner. I use there site in my job search, but I decided to go done to see if I can become a part of their No Worker Left behind program.

The No Worker Left Behind program is to ad people in further education so they can learn different skills to fit the jobs that are in demand in the job seekers area. Giving that I've been having a hard time recently even finding jobs that are looking for people with the skills I have, I figured it's a good ideal for me expand my repertoire.

I was told the soonest orientation meeting starts next month and if I'm in the program they well contact me with the time.

hopefully I made it into the program.

Please leave your name and your number and I'll get back to you

I just check my phones voice message and just listen to a message from someone who received my resume and wants to talk to me

Great news, only one problem the guy didn't leave me his phone number nor the company he worked for.

True, I'd have preffered a different out come

Last month I mentioned I went on a job interview.

I originally contacted the person I had the interview on the date he told me that he thought his boss would make a decision, only to find that the owner of the company was out of town for a few days and that they had a few more people had applied to the job. The guy I interviewed with told me to contact around the time he thought everyone should be interviewed.

Which I did.

And it seems that one of the people he interviewed had a lot more experience, then I had, so logically they went with that person. Which I completely understand, even though I would have liked it better if I was the one that got job (but am happy that someone has found work, who ever that maybe)

I also respect that I got a straight answer.

Move over Mark Twain

while chatting on a group in Linkedin the chance to write an article for a local magazine came up.

From what I can tell the editor liked my article and it may appear in their next issue

I'll be sure to post more about, once I hear anything about it.
